Buck service

Our bucks

The bucks we breed our own herd from. Bring your doe to one of them and get a better kid without keeping a buck all year.

How it works

Buck service in three steps

  1. 01

    Watch for heat

A doe on heat wags her tail, bleats, is restless and may have a swollen, reddish vulva. Heat lasts about a day, so message us as soon as you see the signs.

  2. 02

    Bring her to the farm

We agree a time on WhatsApp and you bring your doe to the farm while she is still on heat.

  3. 03

    Watch again in three weeks

A goat comes back on heat about every 21 days. If she shows heat again, she has not taken, so bring her back. If not, expect kids in about five months.

Before you bring her

  • A healthy doe. Bright eyes, eating and walking normally, with no discharge or open sores. A sick doe is less likely to take.

  • Old enough. A doe should be well grown before her first service, usually at least 8 to 10 months old for a local doe.

  • Not related. A buck should not be her father. If she came from our herd, tell us her tag so we can pick a sire that is not related.
